About us
We are family owned – that says a lot already. The Dike family have had a shop in Stalbridge since 1851, so you could also say we’ve got staying power.
We are committed to bringing our customers good quality food at sensible prices. We’d like to be able to offer you more organic food and drink, and we will be increasing the range of organic produce over the coming months.
We are also independent, so we can be quite choosy about what we stock. Fresh and local is what we choose – we are committed to supporting local producers and keeping food miles down. To this end we now have dozens of small farms and firms within easy reach of Stalbridge, all beavering away to bring you good quality, fresh food.
Recycling is something we care an awful lot about. We recycle all of our cardboard and most of our other packaging. We wish we could stop all those plastic bags leaving our shop and we would love our customers to try very hard to bring their own cloth bags, baskets, cardboard boxes, prams and wheeliebags to carry their shopping home in.
Just to show how committed we are, we have our own reusuable jute shopping bags being made for us in Bangladesh. For environmental reasons we chose not to ship them by air so they are coming by boat, which as you can imagine takes quite a bit longer. They should be arriving at our shores sometime in May.
