Seal of Approval for Dike & Son

02/05/08

Dike & Son independent superstore in Stalbridge has picked up a coveted award of excellence.

The store, which is one of the biggest family-owned independent supermarkets in the country, won the Symbol Group Member award at the Nisa-Today’s 2008 National Exhibition for independent retailers and wholesalers.

Andy Dike went up to Stoneleigh, near Coventry, with store manager Adam Vincent to collect the trophy from former England Rugby Union star Austin Healey at a presentation dinner.

Andy said: “We are delighted with the honour – and it’s all the more special because it is a prestigious award that my father always wanted.”

The 22,000 sq ft store in Stalbridge is the result of years of planning by the late William Dike, whose family has owned and run a shop in the village since 1851.

The Dike & Son superstore, which was completed last November, has forged close links with local suppliers as well as drawing on the buying power of Nisa-Today’s to offer customers unsurpassed choice and quality at sensible prices.

John Heagney, Nisa-Today's Group Symbol director, said: “Dike and Son Ltd in Stalbridge is a one off store. It shows the multiples just what retailing is all about and ensures that Dikes' shoppers need to venture no further than Stalbridge.

“The store offers many superb product ranges to its customers including a large fresh produce section, on-site butchers, fresh fish counter and a Café. The store was fully designed and fitted out by Nisa's store development team in conjunction with one of our approved shopfitters, Secker's of Norwich – this store really is perfection."

Nisa-Today’s is the UK’s leading member-owned buying group, providing benefits to independent retailers and wholesalers in over 5,000 stores.
